Meredith Costain is a versatile writer whose work ranges from picture books through to novels, poetry and non-fiction. Her first publication was a poem in The Age newspaper when she was eight.
Her books include the quirky Ella Diaries, and its sister series, the Olivia Diaries. Both are illustrated by Danielle McDonald, and have been translated into many different languages from around the world. Other titles include CBCA Honour Book Doodledum Dancing and Musical Harriet (which was adapted for television by the ABC).
Meredith lives in an old stone house with a magical garden and a menagerie of pets, who frequently wrangle their way into her stories and poems.
