Bradley Trevor Greive AM (Yáa Gí Yéil/Raven by the Pond) was born in Tasmania but grew up in Europe and Asia. After graduating from the Royal Military College, he served in the Australian Army as a paratrooper commander.

BTG leads and funds wildlife projects on every continent and spent years studying the giant Alaskan brown bears of Kootznoowoo, where he was formally adopted by the Tlingit Deisheetaan clan. He completed Cosmonaut training with the Russian space program and is a former Polynesian rock-lifting champion.
BTG was awarded the Order of Australia for his service to wildlife conservation and literature. He lives with his wife and their two children in California.
