Amanda Graham

Author/Illustrator

Amanda writes and illustrates picture books and short stories for young children. Her first book, Arthur (the dog, not the aardvark), appeared in 1984. In 1985 it won the UK Children's Federation Award and was shortlisted for the CBC Awards.

Amanda's first career choice was teaching. While studying for a Bachelor of Education at Sturt CAE (now Flinders University ) she began writing stories for young children. After having several books published she studied illustration at the University of SA and has since illustrated many of her own stories.

Amanda's career has included work as a primary school teacher, waiter, barperson, out-of-school-hours care coordinator, piano player, freelance illustrator and illustration/drawing lecturer.

Her titles include Picasso, the Green Tree Frog , Looks Like Lunch , Educating Arthur and Smart Dad. Bushranger Bill , illustrated by Amanda and written by Megan de Kantzow.

Amanda works from her home in Mylor, which she shares with her husband Michael, her three children Joseph, Jessica and Angus, and Scrappy the dog.
