Paul J Shaw is a rather quiet, reclusive children's author. He was born in the Western Australian desert mining town of Norseman, where umbrellas are few and far between (this shortage has led to a lifelong fascination with umbrellas!).
He now lives and works in the coastal city of Albany, WA, where he can be usually found neck-high in books at the busy local public library.
When he is not downloading data from the Captain Cat Crime Catalogue Computer to use in the next Captain Cat and the Umbrella Kid adventure, he is watching old horror films, being a Doctor Who fan and collecting comics.
Paul has written for the Canberra Times and the Doctor Who Club of Australia, and has had two previous children's books published: Invasion of the Monstors and Escape from Squidd House.
Fruit of Fury is the very first Captain Cat book. Paul first started writing about Captain Cat when he was ten years old. The Captain was known as The Couragous Cat back then and he featured in a seemingly endless series of comics, much to the amusement of Paul's school mates.
Paul does not like tomato sauce and no one can convince him otherwise.
